As President of the 2023 CMA Awards, the association that runs CMHOL, Barbara Boyd says that these diverse Digital marketers have each elevated our industry in Canada and globally.” Through the Marketing Hall of Legends, we are able to honor and celebrate the remarkable leaders, visionaries, and accomplishments of those who have made a difference in the marketing industry.

The Marketing Hall of Legends is our annual awards ceremony, honoring the most inspiring visionaries, enablers, builders, and mentors who have had a profound impact on the marketing industry over the course of their careers. The Marketer-on-the-Rise Award recognizes the next generation of influential marketing leaders, the next generation of Canadians making waves in the industry.

AMA Toronto will celebrate and officially induct the award winners at an in-person gala event on May 10, at which they will be honored and formally recognized.

It was with great care that the Canadian Marketing Association Awards 2023 Legends were selected by a selection committee comprised of a distinguished group of marketing experts from around the world from this year’s nominations. One of Canada’s most recognized marketing professionals in the consumer packaged goods industry, Nancy Marcus, a former chief marketing officer for Kruger Products and a 2020 Legend inductee, was the chairperson of the selection committee.

Marcus Meyer says a number of exceptional trailblazers will be inducted into Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends this year. The group includes a wide range of male and female participants, from St. John’s to Vancouver, with agencies, brands, and different marketing disciplines represented.

Among the Marketing Hall of Legends Award recipients for 2023 are “Staples, Grais & Shepansky,” the founding directors of Rethink Communications, the first business trio enshrined in the Hall.

It is the first time a marketing leader from the transportation industry has been honored by CMHOL, and Sanderson also becomes the first woman to be honored by the grocery retail industry to be honored by CMHOL. It is also of note that O’Dea was inducted as the first marketer from Newfoundland and Labrador to receive the award.

He is widely recognized for the poetic campaigns his company has developed for Newfoundland and Labrador’s brands.

It has been nearly 20 years since the Marketing Hall of Legends (MCHOL) was created, and it has evolved with the marketing sector over the years,” says Jacob Kessler, VP, CMHOL, AMA Toronto. As one of North America’s most prestigious awards, it represents the best talent in marketing today from coast to coast, but it remains a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment. Only a handful of Legends are named each year, making this an honor highly coveted.

In addition to being inducted into Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends, award winners will be invited to participate in AMA Toronto’s popular Legendary Leadership Series of live events, CMHOL content, and the new video series titled “Legend’s Journey.”

” It’s a pleasure to support and celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2022. We hope they will inspire the next generation of leaders within the Canadian marketing industry,” says 2022 inductee Zak Mroueh, Founder and Creative Chairman of Zulu Alpha Kilo.

A widely recognized and awarded independent creative agency network, Zulu Alpha Kilo, is proud to announce that it will sponsor Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends in 2023. The Globe Media Group and Lulu Marketing Communications are two AMA Toronto partners supporting the CMHOL chapter events.

Quotations from Legends

It is a great honor for me to be inducted into the Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends. I’m very fortunate to have served as a leader in a field I am passionate about at FedEx, and being recognized for that work means so much to me. The fact that I will receive this award as FedEx celebrates its 50th anniversary is even more exciting for me, as I know that I have made a significant contribution to the progress we have made in Canada while serving the communities in which our team lives and works. I want to thank the AMA Toronto for the honor it has given to me.
